Inbox management

How to manage your inbox

The Messages section of your account gives you all the tools you need to manage a person’s journey through your hiring process once you have the initial conversation set up.

You are also able to customise your view to make it easier to action people you're interacting with in an efficient manner.

Responsiveness

Responding to all incoming messages, and doing it in a timely manner will have a positive effect on your responsiveness stats - you'll set yourself up for continued success on cord when you're active and responsive. People will be more likely to engage with you seeing as you're likely to reply, and reply quickly.

Ideally, if you're active and responsive on cord, you'll always respond to incoming requests as they arrive and you'll operate an 'inbox zero' approach to your messages.

Here are a few of the functions that will help you hit 'inbox zero'.

Dealing with a current conversation

In the text box you can write messages and send calendar invites, provided you have your calendar integrated with cord.

To double-check the person’s skills or query anything on their profile you can click on their name or profile picture and you'll be taken directly to their profile.

You're able to view the person’s contact information in the top right corner of the chat and you're able to push them to your integrated ATS if you prefer to manage applications there. This can be useful if you wish to take your communications with people off of cord and continue them elsewhere.

Filtering your messages

To make your inbox easier to manage visually you'll likely want to filter out people that you've already dealt with or people who are talking to other team members.

  • With the toggle, you can choose to either view messages you've sent and received or view all of the messages sent and received by your hiring team. You're also able to filter messages by the position the conversation relates to.

  • If you're looking for a particular person you can use the search function to find them quickly without having to use any filters.

  • To remove a conversation from appearing in your inbox you're able to archive conversations - especially useful if you or the person declined a message request.

  • Finally, to find people that have been previously archived or order your inbox by each type of situation (conversations started, declined, archived) you're able to use the conversation type filter.

Doing it all

When you've hit inbox zero and you're ready to get back to sourcing you might also want to keep an eye on any incoming messages.

There's no need to refresh the page to check if you have any new messages - the inbox tab will let you know as soon as you receive a new message using real-time notifications. The list of messages in your message tab mirrors your inbox too, so all of your notifications are synchronised.
